Students shine at Houston Summer Championship 2021

As the world of chess is returning to normalcy and over-the-board tournaments resuming at various places, the Houston Summer Chess Championship 2021 took place at Westin Galleria on 21st and 22nd August. This prestigious event saw five of our academy students fight it out on the board against a strong field of players.

Among the five students, Vijay Anandh performed extremely well to score 3.5 points out of 5, which consisted of 3 wins, 1 draw and just 1 loss and finished 5th place in the Amateur category. This stellar performance helped him gain 55 rating points, and in the process, he also crossed the 1700 rating mark.
