Summary of the Chess Gaja student results from the Southwest Chess 2022

Dallas Chess Club conducted 88th Annual SouthWest Open from September 2 to September 5, 2022, in Irving, Texas.

Chess Gaja students Vaseegaran, Vijay, Anish, and Neil participated in this tournament under the open section.

Vaseegaran finished 8th in this tournament, scoring 5 out of 7 with 5 wins and 2 losses. He has won a cash prize of $41.

Vijay scored 4 out of 7 points with 2 wins, 4 draws, and 1 loss. He drew against high-rated players Mark(2134) and Adarsh(2146).

His rating point increased from 1972 to 1988. Vijay is fast improving, and he will reach the rating of 2000 soon.

Anish scored 3.5 out of 7 with 3 wins, 3 losses, and 1 draw. He won against higher-rated player Sai Avishkar(1871).

Anish’s rating has increased from 1724 to 1770, a total of 46 points in a single tournament.

Neil scored 2.5 out of 7 with 2 wins, 1 draw, and 4 losses.

Chess Gaja students Saathvik, Shriyan, and Mihika participated in this tournament under the reserve section.

Saathvik scored 5 out of 7 points with 4 wins, 2 draws and 1 loss.

Shriyan scored 4 out of 7 points with 3 wins, 2 losses and 2 draws.

Mihika scored 3 out of 7 points with 2 wins, 3 losses, and 2 draws. She managed to draw against higher-rated player David(1455).

Her rating point increased from 1437 to 1450.

Chess Gaja students Gurugrahan and Saatvik participated in this tournament under the Novice section.

Gurugrahan finished second in this section with a score of 5.5 out of 7, with 5 wins, 1 draw and 1 loss. He managed to win against the higher rated players Caleb(1361) and Alicia(1357).

Guru’s rating increased from 1239 to 1337, a total of 98 points in a single tournament and Guru also won a cash prize of $150.

Saatvik scored 4.5 out of 7 with 4 wins, one draw and 2 losses. He also won a cash prize of $40.

His rating point increased from 999 to 1133.
