Chess Gaja Students Great Performances at Annual Eastern Open in Texas

The 47th Annual Eastern Open, hosted by the Continental Chess Association, took place from December 26 to 29, 2022, in Arlington, Texas.

Chess Gaja students Adithya and Hemachandra took part in the premier section.

Adithya achieved a score of 4 out of 8 points, with notable victories against higher-rated player William (rated 2085) and draws against Isaac (rated 2258) and Yogeshwar (2133). This impressive performance earned Aditya an increase of 22 rating points, and his new USCF rating is 2064.

Hemachandran scored 3 out of 8 points, with a notable draw against runner-up GrandMaster Fidel Corrales Jimenez (rated 2605). This is an impressive feat, as Hemachandra is rated only 2105, and held his own against a GrandMaster.
