Great Performance in National Elementary Championship (2022)

US Chess Federation conducted the 2022 National Elementary (K-6) Championship in Columbus, Ohio, on May 13 – 15.

Chess Gaja students Neil, Saatvik, Siddharth and Anish participated in this tournament.

Neil participated under K – 6 championship categories and won four matches out of seven. He managed to draw one game and lost two matches against Gurru (1933) and Narayan (1961). As a result, his rating point increased from 1722 to 1734.

Anish had four out of seven wins with two draws and two losses against Vihaan ( 1710) and Charles (1373) in this tournament under K – 5 championships.

Saatvik participated under K – 3 (under 1000) category. He scored 3.5 out of seven with one draw and three losses against Jack (1015), Liam (977), and Advik (695).

Siddharth scored 4.5/7 with two losses, one draw, and four wins in this tournament under K – 5 championship.

Moreover, it provided an excellent platform for our students to test their skills against top-rated opponents. The competition featured hundreds of participants, making every victory particularly meaningful.

The National Elementary Championship is organized annually by the US Chess Federation. Additionally, it serves as one of the most important youth chess tournaments in the country. Consequently, strong performances at this event often lead to future opportunities in competitive chess.
