Impressive Performances by Chess Gaja Students in Houston Chess Festival, Texas

Great Performances in TCR: SPACE CITY OPEN 2022

The 2023 Houston Chess Festival took place in Houston, Texas, organized by F & B Trophies. Among the participants were several Chess Gaja students.

In the open section, Lohit achieved a score of 3 out of 5 points. Meanwhile, Neil secured 2.5 out of 5 points. Notably, Neil had an impressive draw against Rudransh(1961), a higher-rated player. This outstanding performance led to an increase in Neil’s rating from 1801 to 1803. Vijay, in the same section, scored 1 out of 3 points.

Moving on to the U2000 section, Anish had a remarkable run, remaining undefeated with 3 out of 5 points, comprising 4 draws and 1 win. His rating also saw a slight increase from 1714 to 1715. Zephan, competing in the same section, also had an undefeated streak, earning 3 out of 5 points. Zephan’s highlight was managing to draw against a strong 1900-rated player, Patrick(1992). This outstanding performance led to a substantial rating increase for Zephan, going from 1513 to 1575. Zephaan also participated in the extra section and had a perfect score of 1 out of 1 point, and his rating experienced a slight increase from 1575 to 1578.

In the U1800 section, Mihika displayed excellent performance, scoring 3 out of 5 points. Notably, she secured victories against higher-rated players, Don(1724), and Caleb(1723). This exceptional performance resulted in a significant rating boost for Mihika, increasing it from 1524 to 1616.

In the U1600 section, Sanmita excelled, scoring an impressive 4 out of 5 points, which led to an increase in her rating from 1439 to 1468.
