Amazing Play by Vaseegaran in 26th Annual Mid America Open

Vaseegaran Performed Great in State Chess Championship

Our Chess Gaja Student Vaseegaran , participated in 26th Annual Mid America OPEN tournament held in St.Louis, Missouri, USA from March 25-27, 2022. He scored 2.5/5 in the tournament and gained 34 rating points for his performance.

In the 1st round, Vaseegaran got paired against the eventual winner of the event International Master Justus and Vaseegaran lost the game.

In Round 2 Vaseegaran picked up a win against a 1950+ rated opponent, and that was followed by a draw against National Master Julian Proleiko (USCF – 2323) in Round 3.

Vaseegaran had a tough competition in the 4th round because he has to face an opponent who was rated 2235. Vaseegaran was up to the challenge of his higher-rated opponent, and he managed to win a great game in the 4th round.

Vaseegaran was also recently awarded the “Life Candidate Master” title by the US Chess Federation. We would like to congratulate Vaseegaran for his strong performance in the tournament, and also for getting the title from USCF.
