The Dallas Chess Club conducted 77th Annual Texas State and Amateur Championships on May 27 – 31, 2022 at Irving, Texas.
Chess Gaja students Vijay, Saathvik, Neil, Sahithi, Shriyan, Anish, Mihika, and Gurugrahan participated in this tournament under the amateur category.
With 110 players participating in this tournament, Vijay won the tournament with 6 out of 7 wins and 2 draws, which increased his rating from 1891 to 1925.
Notably, 76th Annual Texas State and Amateur Champions 2021 under amateur category was also won by Chess Gaja student Vaseegaran, which made us two time consecutive amateur cup holders.
Saatvik scored 4.5/7 with four wins and two losses and 1 draw. He lost his two games against high-rated performers Nirupam(1979) and Andrew(18833). He increased his rating from 1814 to 1822.
Neil won four out of seven games with three wins and three losses. He lost his two games against high-rated performers Sean(1751) and Curtis(1817). He also participated in this tournament under section EXTRAG60S0C, and won the game. His ratings increased from 1733 to 1739.
Sahithi won 3.5 out of seven games with three wins, one draw, and 3 losses. She lost her two games against high-rated performers Nikhilesh(1809) and Brian(1678).
Shriyan scored 3 out of seven games with three wins and four losses. He lost his two games against Ethan(1765) and Stephen(1715). His ratings increased from 1470 to 1484.
Anish had an average tournament with 2.5 out of seven games with 2 wins and 4 losses and 1 draw. He lost against high-rated performer Sean(1751).
Mihika won 2.5 out of seven games with one win and two losses and three draw. Her ratings increased from 1337 to 1358.
Gurugrahan had an average tournament with 2 out of seven games with one win and four losses and one draw.
