Indian Open Team Highlights

The Indian team is led by two young and promising grandmasters, D. Gukesh and R. Praggnanandhaa, who are set to headline the event. Below are the names of the players along with their current FIDE ratings as of July 2024:

  1. D. Gukesh: Rating – 2763
  2. R. Praggnanandhaa: Rating – 2757
  3. Vidit Gujrathi: Rating – 2720
  4. Arjun Erigaisi: Rating – 2778
  5. Pentala Harikrishna: Rating – 2695​.

Indian Women Team for Chess Olympiad 2024

For the Women’s Section of the 45th Chess Olympiad, we are proud to present the Indian team, which is comprised of some of the top female chess players in the country. The Indian women’s team for this prestigious event includes:

  1. GM Harika Dronavalli – Rating: 2491
  2. GM Vaishali Rameshbabu – Rating: 2488
  3. IM Divya Deshmukh – Rating: 2464
  4. IM Vantika Agrawal – Rating: 2390
  5. IM Tania Sachdev – Rating: 2386

This team, led by experienced grandmasters and international masters, is set to make a significant impact at the Olympiad. Notably absent is India’s top female player, Humpy Koneru, who has opted out of the tournament​

Important Announcement! We are excited to announce that our founder has been selected by FIDE Trainers Commission to provide online training support to teams of Mauritius and Eritrea for the 45th Chess Olympiad.

Chess Gaja founder Grandmaster Priyadharshan also served as the national coach for the Brazilian team during the 44th Chess Olympiad in Chennai. Learn more about this in another blog post. As the coach and captain, the Chess Gaja founder led the Brazilian team, which started in 28th place and finished 21st on the ranking list. They even managed to upset higher-ranked teams like England (starting rank #10, average rating 2662) and draw with Ukraine (starting rank #8, average rating 2666). The team, consisting of 5 Grandmasters with an average FIDE rating of 2563, delivered remarkable performances.
