The Chess Refinery hosted the TCR: Houston Winter Championship from January 7-8, 2023 in Houston, Texas.
Several Students of Chess Gaja in Texas competed in the tournament.
Vaseegaran and Vijay competed in the championship section, Vaseegaran scored 3 out of 5 points and Vijay scored 2 out of 5 points, including a notable victory over higher-rated player Kevin (rated 2047) which boosted Vijay’s rating points from 1929 to 1933.
In the club section, Sahithi and Vishnu competed, Sahithi scored 2.5 out of 5 points. Notably, she won against higher-rated player James(rated 1639) and drew against higher-rated player Cyrus(rated 1718). This great performance increased Sahithi’s rating point from 1549 to 1581.
Vishnu scored 2 out of 5 points, with one of his results being a draw against the higher-rated player Tanay (rated 1828).
In the reserve section, Sanmita participated. Sanmitha scored 3 out of 5 points including wins against higher-rated players Ruben(1492) and Cary(1338) which increased her rating point from 1261 to 1342.
