THE POISON PAWNS CHESS CLUB organized the $2,500 HOUSTON CHESS STUDIO JUNE 20 tournament on June 9-11, 2023, in Houston, Texas.
Chess Gaja students Vijay, Ronak, and Anish participated in the tournament.
In the CHAMPIONSHIP 3 DAY 1800+ section, Ronak scored 3 out of 5 points. He lost to two higher-rated players with ratings of 2514 and 2559 in two rounds, who are the top 2 players in the tournament. Ronak’s solid performance resulted in a gain of 6 rating points, raising his rating from 2132 to 2138.
Vijay scored 2.5 out of 5 points. He lost to a higher-rated player with a rating of 2559 in one round, who is also in the top 2 of the tournament.
Anish scored 2 out of 5 points. He lost to a higher-rated player with a rating of 1939 in one round. Anish’s strong performance resulted in a gain of 12 rating points, raising his rating from 1724 to 1736.
