Murfreesboro Chess Club conducted the Battleground Murfreesboro 2023 tournament in Murfreesboro, Arkansas on August 19, 2023.
Chess Gaja student Hemachandra participated in the tournament under the open section and scored 3.5 points out of 4 and tied for 1st place. He managed to draw one of his games with a high-rated player Ronald(2361), so this extraordinary performance increased his rating from 2151 to 2162.
