The Gambito – 1021 chess tournament took place on July 29, 2023, at the San Diego Chess Club in California. Several Chess Gaja students participated in the event, showcasing their skills and determination.
In the open section, Ruhan scored 2.5 out of 4 points. Notably, he achieved a remarkable victory against a higher-rated player, Ramil, who had a rating of 1800. This outstanding performance contributed to Ruhan’s rating climbing from 1751 to 1763, reflecting his improvement and dedication.
Moving on to the elite section, Vedant exhibited his talent by finishing tied for 2nd place with a score of 3 out of 4 points. His remarkable accomplishment came from defeating a higher-rated player, Priyansh, who had a rating of 2110. Vedant’s excellent performance resulted in a significant rating boost, elevating it from 2026 to 2053, indicating his continuous growth as a chess player.
In the same elite section, Priyansh secured a tie for 3rd place with 2.5 out of 4 points. One of the notable highlights of his performance was a draw against the tournament’s winner, Carlos, who had an impressive rating of 2127. This commendable feat led to Priyansh’s rating increasing from 2110 to 2111, reflecting his steady progress and strong competitive spirit.
