The Chess Refinery conducted the TCR Houston fall championship tournament in Houston, Texas on October 1st, 2023.
Our Chess Gaja student Vijay participated in the championship section whereas Sanmita, Mihika, and Zephan participated in the club section and showcased their talents.
Vijay played extremely well by scoring 3 points out of 5. He managed to secure a win against the high-rated players Ronak (2171), and Daniel (2139) and drew against Kyle (2063). This strong performance led to an impressive gain of 81 Rating points increasing his rating from 1925 to 2006.
Sanmita scored 3.0 points out of 5. Her impressive performance was a win against three highly rated players Alicia (1714) and Mahit (1667) and drew with Cyrus (1785). This remarkable performance resulted in an increase in Sanmita’s rating from 1589 to 1647.
Mihika demonstrated exceptional play skills by scoring 2.5 points out of 5, increasing her rating from 1562 to 1568. She drew two of her games with a high rated players Zephan (1576) and Daniel 1652)
Zephan scored 2.5 points out of 5. His best victory came from a high-rated player Calvin (1630), so this skillful play led to an increase in rating from 1576 to 1582.
