Chronicles of Chess Champions, Feb 17–22, 2024

Chess Gaja students showed excellence and showcased their talents in multiple events held in the United States this fortnight (17th to 22nd February 2024). We have segmented our student performances by state in this blog!

Vermont Chess Tournament

Vivek won the Stowe Chess Tournament conducted by Stowe Scholastic Chess on February 18, 2024. Vivek scored 3.5 out of 4 points. This performance helped him maintain his USCF rating of 1451.

Texas Chess Tournament

Ved finished 2nd in the Region VI tournament conducted by Complete Chess on February 17, 2024. In the Primary Championship section, Ved scored 4 out of 5 points. Notably, he won one of his games against a higher-rated player, Gleb (740 USCF). This great performance increased Ved’s USCF rating from 685 to 852.

The Continental Chess Association conducted the 15th Annual Southwest Class Championship. Several Chess Gaja students participated in this tournament.

In the Class A section, Sanjay participated and scored 4.5 out of 7 points and this great performance increased his rating from 1772 to 1816 USCF. Shriyan also scored 4.5 out of 7 points. Arush scored 4 out of 7 points. Rishi scored 4 out of 7 points. This good performance increased Rishi’s USCF rating from 1659 to 1737. Anish scored 3 out of 7 points; his USCF rating increased from 1726 to 1736; and Vikash scored 2 out of 7 points.

In the Expert section, Neil scored 4 out of 7 points, which increased his USCF rating from 1974 to 1998. In the master section, Vaseegaran scored 5.5 out of 9 points and his USCF rating increased from 2281 to 2297.

Nebraska Chess Tournament

Chess Rockerz conducted the Winter Open from February 17–18, 2024, in Omaha, Nebraska. In the Winter Open section, Gurugrahan scored 3 out of 5 points. This good performance increased his USCF rating from 1600 to 1684.

New York Chess Tournament

Finn Chess Tournaments conducted Sunday evening action on February 17, 2024, in Latham, New York. Priyansh won this tournament in the closed section with a score of 3 out of 4 points. This incredible performance increased his rating from 2116 to 2126.

California Chess Tournament

The San Diego Chess Club conducted Gambito 1045 on February 17, 2024, in San Diego, California. Ruhan tied for 3rd place in this tournament with a score of 3 out of 4 points. This good performance increased his USCF rating from 1924 to 1934.
