Chronicles of Chess Championship(February 23 to 28, 2024)

Chess Gaja students showed excellence and showcased their talents in multiple events held in the United States this fortnight (23rd to 28th February 2024). We have segmented our student performances by state in this blog!

Texas Chess Tournament

Texas Chess Center Tournaments

Neil finished 2nd in the PLANO SWISS 022424 Tournament conducted by Texas Chess Center.

On February 24,2024.  In the Open section Neil scored 3.5 out of 4 points and this strong performance increased his USCF rating from 1998 to 2014.

Chess Gaja congratulates Neil as he has crossed 2000 USCF rating for the first time in his career.

Rishi finished 4th in the FRISCO SWISS 022524 Tournament conducted on February 25, 2024. In the Championship section Rishi scored 2.5 out of 4 points. This good performance increased his USCF rating from 1737 to 1756.

California Chess Tournament

The San Diego Chess Club conducted GAMBITO -1046 on February 24, 2024. Ruhan finished 5th by scoring 2.5 out of 4 points in the Open Section. This was a solid performance by Ruhan and his USCF rating at the end of the event was 1929.

Ohio Chess Tournament

Varun scored 3.5 points out of 6 rounds in the 2024 OHIO HSMS Tournament conducted by CINCINNATI SCHOLASTIC CHESS on February 24-25, 2024. Varun participated in the HS Championship section and he ended the event with a USCF rating of 1999.

Virginia Chess Tournament

Priyansh finished 9th in the 8th Annual George Washington Open Tournament, conducted by the Continental Chess Association on February 23-25, 2024. Priyansh participated in the Major section and scored 3.5 out of 5 points.

Priyansh’s impressive performance included:

A draw against Michelle Catherina (USCF rating: 2302) in the 1st round.

Three consecutive wins against:

Roman (USCF rating: 2253)

Thomas (USCF rating: 2295)

Naveen (USCF rating: 2334)

His only loss came against Grandmaster Czeber Attila (USCF rating: 2473).

This strong performance increased Priyansh’s USCF rating by 65 points, from 2126 to 2191.
