Calling all strategic minds from kindergarten through 8th grade! Are you ready to put your chess skills to the test on a national stage? It’s time to unleash your inner chess grandmaster and prepare for the 2024 National Middle School (K–8) Championship held in Atlanta, Georgia!
This electrifying three-day competition (May 10th–12th) offers the ultimate challenge for aspiring chess champions. Here’s what awaits you:
- 7-Round Swiss Tournament: Compete in a 7-round Swiss system, ensuring you face players of similar skill levels throughout the competition.
- Multiple Skill Sections: Whether you’re a seasoned player or just starting out, find the perfect section for your skill level with divisions for K-8 Championship, K-8 Under 1700, K-8 Under 1400, K-8 Under 1100, K-8 Under 900, K-8 Under 700, and K-8 Unrated.
- Sharpen Your Skills: Gain valuable experience in a competitive yet enriching environment, playing multiple games against top players across the country.
- Rise to the Top: Compete for national ranking and recognition amongst your peers. The top finishers in each section will be crowned champions!
Tournament Details:
- Time Control: Each player has 90 minutes to complete the game, with a 10-second grace period added after each move (Game/90 d10).

Registration Information:
- Entry Fee:
- $80 if registered or postmarked by April 22nd; $100 if registered or postmarked by April 29th; $130 by May 6th; $180 thereafter or on site
- Additional Fees:
- $30.00 extra for all phone registrations.
- $30 change fee for roster or section changes after Apr. 10 or on site changes.

Withdrawal and Refund Policy:
A withdrawal requested by email no later than April 20th, or in person at Chess Control no later than 11 a.m. local time on April 21st, will be refunded 100% of the entry fee.
