Chronicles of Chess Champions (May 16-23, 2024)

Here is the report of last week Chess Gaja student performances in tournaments across the United States, Chess Gaja students have once again showed their exceptional skills and dedication (May 16-23, 2024). Here’s a rundown of their remarkable performances:

Georgia Chess Tournament:

  • Anhad showcased resilience and strategic prowess at the GCC Friday Knight Face-Off conducted by GEORGIA CHESS CLUB, LLC on May 17, 2024. Competing in the U1000 category, Anhad faced off against strong opponents like Gabrielle with a rating of 731 and secured a draw. His performance increased his USCF rating from 376 to 431.

Texas Chess Tournament:

  • Sanjay emerged triumphant at the Plano Swiss event conducted by TEXAS CHESS CENTER on May 18, 2024. Competing in the Open Section, Sanjay’s stellar performance led to a tournament victory, scoring an impressive 3.5 out of 4 points and increasing his USCF rating from 1833 to 1841.
  • Ved dominated the competition at the Austin Monthly Scholastic tournament conducted by ATLANTIC CHESS ASSOCIATION on May 18, 2024. Competing in the K-3 Championship, Ved secured a perfect score of 5 out of 5, showcasing remarkable improvement and boosting his USCF rating from 761 to 925.

Nebraska Chess Tournament:

  • Gurugrahan clinched victory at the State Qualifier tournament conducted by OMAHA CHESS COMMUNITY on May 18, 2024, securing his qualification for the prestigious Rockefeller Invitational National Event. 

We are so proud at Chess Gaja that 2 of our students (Gurugrahan and Aayush) have qualified for the Rockefeller Invitational National Event to be held in July 2024.

California Chess Tournament:

  • Ruhan continued his winning streak at the GAMBITO – 1055 tournament conducted by SAN DIEGO CHESS CLUB on May 18, 2024. Competing in the Elite category, Ruhaan’s managed to beat higher rated players like Roger (2142 USCF) and this stellar performance propelled his USCF rating from 2005 to 2025.
