Chronicles of Chess Champions (May 31-June 5)

Our Chess Gaja students have once again demonstrated their excellence and showcased their talents in various chess tournaments across the United States. Here is a detailed report of their achievements by state:

Texas

Neil Lad showcased a strong performance by scoring 4 out of 5 points in the FRIDAY SWISS conducted by the  Texas Chess Center in Plano, TX, on May 31, 2024. His USCF rating increased from 1755 to 1784. He played against Likhit, who had a rating of 1844, and managed to secure a draw.

Prathit Tanmay Vora  scored 1.5 out of 3 points in THE FRIDAY KNIGHTS conducted by the Houston Scholastic Chess Association in Spring, TX, on May 31, 2024, securing 2nd place in his section. His USCF rating remained steady at 1154.

Oklahoma

Aayush Praveen delivered a solid performance by scoring 3 out of 5 points in the 78TH JERRY SPANN OKLAHOMA STATE CHAMPIONSHIP conducted by the Oklahoma Chess Association in Edmond, OK, from June 1 to June 2, 2024. His USCF rating adjusted slightly from 1579 to 1574.

Georgia

Anhad scored 2 out of 3 points in the GCC FRIDAY KNIGHT FACE-OFF conducted by Georgia Chess Club on May 31, 2024 , showing significant improvement and boosting his USCF rating from 431 to 561 in Alpharetta, GA.

Nebraska

Gurugrahan Gurumoorthi  performed excellently, scoring 3 out of 4 points in the HOF CHAMPIONSHIP (NE)1: OPEN conducted by the SW Suburban Omaha Chess Association from June 1 to June 2, 2024 and increasing his USCF rating from 1754 to 1776 .

Priyansh Garg scored 3.5 out of 5 points in a competitive section in the 4TH ANNUAL NIAGARA FALLS OPEN (NY)1: MAJOR conducted by the Continental Chess Association in Niagara Falls, NY, from May 31 to June 2, 2024. His USCF rating experienced a slight adjustment from 2217 to 2213.

California

Ruhan Yogesh Vichare scored 2.5 out of 4 points in the GAMBITO -1056 (CA)1: ELITE conducted by the San Diego Chess Club in San Diego, CA, on June 1, 2024,

 increasing his USCF rating from 2030 to 2052. He managed a draw against Dionisio, who has a rating of 2445.
