The turn of the month brought exciting action for Chess Gaja students, with strong performances across multiple states in the USA. From scholastic tours to state championships and open tournaments, our players showcased resilience, steady improvement, and some impressive rating gains.

Texas (Austin)

Ved Sharma, a student of Chess Gaja at the 2026 Winter Paragon Scholastic Tour in Austin on 31/1/2026, organized by Rocks & Rooks Chess Club. He scored 1.0/5 in a competitive field and recorded a solid rating improvement from 658 to 692 (+34). This gain reflects valuable learning and growing confidence against challenging opposition.

California (San Francisco)

Shafi competed in the 23rd Konig Memorial Tournament in San Francisco on 30/1/2026, hosted by the Mechanics’ Institute. He scored 2.0/4 and achieved one of the biggest rating jumps of this period, moving from 1156 to 1205 (+49). This is a significant leap and a clear sign of improving strength and confidence.
