Chess Gaja Students Perform Really Great At Houston Turkey Shoot!

The Houston $1,000 Turkey Shoot was held on 13 and 14 November 2021. Four Chess Gaja students participated in the tournament and played really well. The rankings can be checked here.

Vijay scored 2/4 and came fifth in the Open Section. His consistent performance ensured that he maintained his rating. Anish also played in the Open Section and scored 1.5/4. He came tenth and maintained his rating. He won against the person who came eighth in the tournament – Abhinav Mysore (USCF – 1647).

On the other hand, Sahithi won the U1600 Section. She came first by scoring 3/4, gaining 73 points in a single tournament. She increased his USCF rating from 1369 to 1442. She only lost to the 4th rank Kyo Chen (USCF – 1541). Mihika also participated in the U1600 Section. She played against a lot of higher rated players and scored 1.5/4.
