Check out the Results of the 14th Annual Southwest Chass Championship

Continental Chess Association conducted the 14th Annual Southwest Chess Championship from February 16 – 20, 2023 in Irving, Texas.

Several US Chess Gaja students participated in this tournament.

Vaseegaran participated in this tournament under the Master section. He scored 3.5 out of 9 points. Notably, he drew one of his games against a higher-rated player Maria(rated 2390). This performance increased Vaseegaran’s rating from 2180 to 2181.

Vijay, Lohit, and Neil participated in this tournament under the Expert section.

Vijay scored 3.5 out of 7 points. Notably, he won one of his games against a higher-rated player Steward(rated 2009) and drew against a higher-rated player Chloe(rated 2041). This performance increased Vijay’s rating from 1955 to 1974.

Lohit scored 3.5 out of 7 points. His notable performances were two wins against higher-rated players Maxwell(rated 2056) and Jay(rated 2000).

Neil scored 2.5 out of 7 points. His highlight performance was his win against a higher-rated player Aayush(rated 1942).

Sudeep, Anish, and Arush participated in this tournament under the section Class A.

Sudeep scored 3.5 out of 7 points and Arush scored 2 out of 7 points.

Anish scored 2.5 out of 7 points. Notably, he won one of his games against a higher-rated player Jingtu(rated 1749).

Arjun, Shriyan, Sahithi, and Mihikaparticipated in this tournament under the section Class B.

Arjun scored 4 out of 7 points. His highlight performance was his win against a higher-rated player and runner of the tournament William(rated 1706). This good performance increased Arjun’s rating from 1662 to 1690.

Shriyan scored 4 out of 7 points. His notable performance was his win against a higher-rated player Kelvin(rated 1700). This good performance increased Shriyan’s rating from 1589 to 1619.

Sahithi scored 3 out of 7 points. Notably, she won two of her games against higher-rated players Artemio(rated 1721) and Charles(rated 1716). This good performance increased Sahithi’s rating from 1589 to 1591.

Mihika scored 3 out of 7 points. Notably, she won one of her games against a higher-rated player Julius(rated 1600). This good performance increased Mihika’s rating from 1514 to 1531.

Sanmitha participated in this tournament under the section Class C and scored 3.5 out of 7 points. Notably, she won one of her games against a higher rate player Leah(rated 1496). This performance increased Sanmitha’s rating from 1342 to 1366.

Suraj participated in this tournament under the section Class D and tied for 2nd place with a score of 4.5 out of 7 points. His highlight performance was his win against a higher-rated player Aditya(1414). This good performance increased Suraj’s rating from 1407 to 1416.
