Check out the Results of the Texas State Chess Tournament

Texas Chess Association conducted the 2023 Texas State Scholastic Chess Championship from March 3 – 5, 2023 in McAllen, Texas.

Several Chess Gaja students participated in this tournament.

Vijay participated in this tournament under the elementary school championship K-5 or 6 sections.

Vijay won this tournament with a score of 6.5 out of 7. His notable performance was his win against the top seed of the tournament Kyle(1995). This outstanding performance increased his rating from 1974 to 1984.

Vijay’s outstanding achievement secured him a place in the 4th Annual John D. Rockefeller III National Tournament of Elementary School State Champions, where he will be the sole representative of Texas.

Vaseegaran, Milind, and another student from Chess Gaja took part in the tournament, competing in the MS Championship 6-8 category.

One of the Chess Gaja students tied for first-place in this category and Vaseegaran scored 5 points out of 7 points.

Milind scored 4 out of 7 points. Notably, he won one of his games against a higher-rated player, Vivica(1272). This good performance increased his rating point from 1127 to 1182.
