South African chess federation conducted the tournament 2023 South African Junior Closed (U14 Open) on March 30,31 2023 and April 4,6 2023 in Johannesburg, South Africa.
Chess Gaja student Eugene participated in the U14 open section and scored 3.5 out of 5 points. He gained 56 rating points, and his current rating is 1246.
Eugene managed to win a round against Abinavah, a player with a high rating of 1443, and also played to a draw with Zhengfei, who has a rating of 1335.
