SMTX CHESS organized the SMTX CHESS CLASSICAL CHAMPIONSHIP Tournament on June 3rd and 4th, 2023, in San Marcos, Texas.
Several Chess Gaja students participated in the tournament, showcasing their skills and dedication.
In the Championship section, Vijay achieved a score of 3 out of 5 points. Despite losing to a higher-rated player with a rating of 2216 in one round, Vijay’s strong performance resulted in a gain of 7 rating points, elevating his rating from 1921 to 1928.
Neil scored 2.5 out of 5 points. He also faced a loss against a higher-rated player with a rating of 2019 in one of the rounds. Nevertheless, Neil’s solid performance led to a gain of 8 rating points, increasing his rating from 1841 to 1849.
In the U1800 section, Aryan scored 2 out of 5 points. Similarly, he encountered defeat against a higher-rated player with a rating of 1725 in one of the rounds. Nonetheless, Aryan’s strong performance allowed him to gain 18 rating points, improving his rating from 1340 to 1358.
Shriyan scored 1.5 out of 5 points, exhibiting determination throughout the tournament.
In the U1000 section, Tharun achieved an impressive score of 4 out of 5 points, securing 3rd place. Tharun’s exceptional performance resulted in a gain of 28 rating points, boosting his rating from 1026 to 1054.
