The San Diego Chess Club organized the GAMBITO-1016 tournament on June 3, 2023, in San Diego, California.
Chess Gaja students Soham and Priyansh participated in the tournament.
In the U1700 section, Soham displayed an impressive performance, scoring a perfect 4 out of 4 points and winning all four games. His outstanding performance resulted in securing 1st place in the tournament and a significant gain of 110 rating points, elevating his rating from 1492 to 1602.
In the Elite section, Priyansh scored 2.5 out of 4 points. Despite losing to a higher-rated player with a rating of 2278 who eventually claimed 1st place, Priyansh’s strong performance led to a gain of 16 rating points, raising his rating from 2075 to 2059.
