Chronicles of Chess Champions - Nov 2023

Chess Gaja students demonstrated excellence and showcased their talents in multiple events held in the United States last week (29th November -5th December,2023). Below is the list of events along with their results.

WINTER NYOS SCHOLASTIC CHESS TOURNAMENT –AUSTIN, TEXAS

Rock Rooks – Chess Club hosted the 2023 Winter NYOS Scholastic Chess Tournament on December 2nd,2023 in AUSTIN, TEXAS witnessing impressive performances from our Chess Gaja students.

Tharun showcased his talent in the K-12 Elite section to score 3 out of 5 rounds and his rating increased by 23 points from 1130 to 1153.

In the K-3 U800 section, Ved scored 3 out of 5 rounds by winning with higher-rated players Miloni (681) and Gautam(691), so by those victories, he earned his rating of 717.
In the K-3 U500 section, Samvir scored 2.5 out of 5 rounds, advancing his rating by 48 points from 358 to 406. He achieved this by winning against the higher-rated Joshua (655).

KENTUCKY TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP-FORT KNOX, KENTUCKY

Larry Bell Chess hosted the 2023 Kentucky team Chess Championship on December 2nd,2023 in Fort Knox, Kentucky we observed remarkable performances from our Chess Gaja student, Hemachandra. He demonstrated his skills by securing a perfect score of 4 out of 4 rounds, earning the second position in the championship. Through this tournament, he boosted his rating by 15 points, advancing from 2118 to 2133.

GAMBITO-SAN DIEGO, CALIFORNIA 

San Diego Chess Club hosted the Gambito1036 on December 2nd,2023 in San Diego. Smaran, a student of Gaja Chess, exhibited his skills in the U 1000 section, achieving notable progress by securing a score of 2.5 out of 4 rounds. Impressively, he elevated his rating from 1164 to 1171, marking a commendable increase of 7 points.

ROSHEN’S CHESS ACADEMY TOURNAMENT-PORTLAND, ORLANDO

Roshen’s Chess Academy conducted the ROSHEN’S CHESS ACADEMY TOURNAMENT on December 2nd,2023 in Portland, witnessing impressive performances from our Chess Gaja student Prahlada. In the section B category, he scored 2 out of 4 points and started his rating 696 by winning with higher-rated Tianyi (951P) and Virinchi (745P).

CCCSWISSDEC12-COPPELL, TEXAS

Coppell Chess Club hosted the CCCSWISSDEC12 event on 2-12-2023 in Coppell. Our Chess Gaja student Advaith had delivered remarkable performance. He competed in the U400 section and emerged as the champion with an outstanding score of 3.5 out of 4 points. Notably, his rating experienced a significant surge, jumping from 291 to 424, marking an impressive increase of 133 points. One of his notable victories was against the higher-rated player Surya (391).

STOWESCHOLASTIC-STOWE, VERMONT

The Stowescholastic event in Stowe, organized by the Northern New England Chess Association, featured outstanding displays of skill. In the Middle School Section, Vivek achieved a flawless score of 4 out of 4, clinching the championship title and elevating his rating by an impressive 88 points, from 1237 to 1325.

KNIGHTS OF CYPRESS-CYPRESS, TEXAS

Houston Scholastic chess Association hosted the Knight of cypress event in Cypress, witnessing the impressive performances of our Chess Gaja students. In Section -A, Ramanathan scored 1.5 out of 3 rounds and increased his rating by 8 points from 1478 to 1486. He won with a high-rated Shantanu (1601).
