The Nashville Chess Center (NCC) is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) corporation whose primary purpose is to educate the public about the game, art, science, sport and discipline of chess, with a particular focus on the education of secondary and elementary age students. The study of chess and participation in chess-related activities has been shown to promote numerous educational benefits among school-age children including: enhancement of logical reasoning skills, higher standardized test scores in both math and reading, improved patience and greater self-esteem.

Chattanooga Chess Club

Chattanooga Chess Club are intensive programs designed to immerse participants in chess theory, tactics, and gameplay. They often include training sessions, strategy workshops, and friendly competitions, providing a comprehensive learning experience for players of all levels.





The Cumberland County Chess Club was started in 1973 and incorporated in 1978.  They host two closed tournaments and three open tournaments each year.  One of the closed tournaments is our Cumberland County chess Championship sponsored by the Cumberland County Bank; the winner’s name is engraved on a plaque that hang at Cumberland County Bank. The other closed tournament is scholastic and is sponsored by Highland Federal Savings and Loan. The tournament includes primary, elementary, junior high and high school sections. Each winner, each year, gets their name engraved on a plaque that hangs in Highland Federal Savings Bank.
