The Singapore Chess Federation is thrilled to announce the Singapore Chess Festival 2024, an exceptional event that promises to be a highlight in the chess calendar. Running from November 24 to December 12, 2024, this festival is set to bring together chess enthusiasts from across the globe to celebrate and engage in the royal game of chess.
The Singapore Chess Festival 2024 will be a grand occasion featuring an array of events and activities catering to all levels of chess players. Whether you’re an experienced tournament player or new to the game, there will be something for everyone.
The Festival will showcase:
- Simultaneous Exhibitions: Watch masters take on multiple opponents simultaneously in thrilling displays of skill and strategy.
- Workshops and Master Classe: Learn from the best with specialized sessions designed to enhance your chess understanding.
- Beginner Classes: Perfect for newcomers who want to get a solid start in chess.
- Various Tournaments: Participate in tournaments with different time controls, including the prestigious Singapore International Open 2024.
The Singapore International Open 2024
The festival’s centerpiece is the Singapore International Open 2024, which will feature some of the region’s top players and strong masters. This tournament will run alongside the FIDE World Chess Championship Singapore 2024, making it a part of one of the most significant chess events ever held in Singapore.
Key Tournament Details
- Singapore International Open (Masters): This tournament will take place at the same venue as the World Championship match. It is open to players with a minimum rating of 2200.
- Singapore International Open (Challengers): Open to players with ratings up to 2199, this tournament will also be held at the World Championship venue.
National Age-Group Championship 2024
This prestigious event, held in conjunction with the World Championship, will take place at One Tampines Hub. It’s the premier age-group tournament organized by the Singapore Chess Federation and is open to players from all over the world.
Categories include:
- Under 8: Born on or after January 1, 2016
- Under 10: Born on or after January 1, 2014
- Under 12: Born on or after January 1, 2012
- Under 14: Born on or after January 1, 2010
- Under 16: Born on or after January 1, 2008
- Under 20: Born on or after January 1, 2004
Attractive Prizes and Recognition
Participants in the National Age-Group Championship 2024 will have the chance to win exciting prizes and earn notable titles, including:
- Singapore National Champions: For the highest-ranked Singaporean and PR players in each age group.
- Qualification for Singapore National Training Program (NTP): For top performers in their respective age groups.
- Invitations to the Singapore National Championships: Top finishers in the Under 20 and Under 16 categories will be invited to the finals.
- Singapore National Master Norms: Awarded to the champions in the Under 16 and Under 20 categories.
