Several Chess Gaja students made their mark on the chessboard this week with commendable performances across competitive events in Texas.
Yugan Muthiah participated in three events and showed consistent growth throughout:
- At the SFS Summer Madness Week 7 Thursday tournament held in Frisco, TX, on July 17, 2025, Yugan scored 3 out of 5, pushing his rating from 1683 to 1705.
- He returned the next day, July 18, for another edition of the same event and secured 3 out of 4, increasing his rating slightly from 1705 to 1706.
- Yugan then delivered a standout performance at the 8th Queen City of the Prairie Open & Fort Worth Championship on July 20, scoring 4 out of 5 and achieving a notable rating jump from 1656 to 1730!
Sanjay Jaishankar also impressed at the 8th Queen City of the Prairie Open & Fort Worth Championship, finishing with 3.5 out of 5. His solid showing boosted his rating from 1975 to 2019, crossing the 2000 milestone—an excellent achievement!
