Chess Gaja students made their mark once again across the United States in tournaments held from July 24 to 30, 2025. Let’s celebrate their determination, progress, and key accomplishments from this exciting weekend!
Connecticut
Priyansh competed in the prestigious 30th Annual Bradley Open held in Windsor Locks, CT, organized by the Continental Chess Association. He scored 4 out of 5 points, boosting his rating from 2216 to 2244—a notable jump of +28 points. A consistent performer, Priyansh continues to impress in national-level events.
Texas
It was a busy and successful weekend for our Texas-based students!
- Yugan had a highly productive week, participating in three different tournaments across Texas and showing impressive consistency. He began with a strong performance at the SFS Summer Madness – Last Week Monday held in Frisco, TX on July 28, where he scored 4 out of 5 and boosted his rating from 1628 to 1690, gaining +62 points. Earlier in the week, on July 26, he competed in the CCC Rapid July 26 in Coppell, TX, scoring 3/4 and increasing his rating to 1739. The momentum continued as he played in the Irving Swiss on July 27 in Plano, TX, earning 2.5/4 and ending the week with a rating of 1746. Altogether, Yugan gained +118 points in just one week—an outstanding achievement that reflects his steady improvement and strong form.
- In Plano, TX, Tanav participated in the Frisco Swiss, scoring 2.5/4 and gaining +11 points, moving from 1703 to 1714.
- Rajagopal also competed in the Frisco Swiss, scoring 2.5/4 and jumping +20 points from 1630 to 1650.
- Roy played in the Plano Swiss, securing 1.5/4 and gaining +2 points, inching forward from 1453 to 1455.
These results reflect a consistent and growing presence of Chess Gaja in Texas tournaments, especially with the support of the Texas Chess Center.
California
- Surya played in the 18th Smith Memorial Tournament in San Francisco, CA, finishing with 1.5/4 and a modest gain of +3 points, now rated 1593.
- Yashvasin participated in the Three Group event in La Palma, CA, where he impressively moved from 221P18 to 320P21, indicating excellent progress in the provisional rating category.
- Vian competed in Gambito -1101 hosted by the San Diego Chess Club, scoring 2.5/4 with a small gain of +7 points, now rated 1808.
Georgia
Anhad played in the CHESS ZONE July Rated Scholastic event in Roswell, GA, scoring 2/4 and gaining +9 points to move from 833 to 842.
Maryland
Roshan competed in the 14th Annual Potomac Open in Rockville, MD, scoring 3/5 and gaining +14 points, reaching 1537.
