Chess Gaja students once again showcased their commitment and competitive spirit in tournaments across the United States from August 23–26, 2025. Let’s take a closer look at their performances state by state.
New Jersey
Vivek participated in the K&Q Super Sunday (August 24) in Piscataway, NJ, hosted by the Kings and Queens Chess Academy. He scored 2.5/3 and made an impressive rating jump from 1591 to 1647, gaining +56 points. This strong finish highlights Vivek’s steady growth and sharp play.
California
California was home to several noteworthy performances:
- Surya played in the 23rd JJ Dolan Memorial Tournament in San Francisco, CA on August 23, scoring 2.5/4 and climbing from 1593 to 1643 with a solid +50 point gain.
- Riyan competed in the Day and Knight FIDE Rapid in Corona, CA across two dates. On August 24, he scored 2/4, moving from 908 to 910. He returned on August 26, scoring 0.5/2 and raising his rating slightly again to 913.
Texas
The Texas Chess Center saw two strong performances from our students in the DFW Summer FIDE (August 24):
- Tanav scored 3/5, gaining +22 points to move from 1725 to 1747.
- Sreevarshan had one of the best performances of the week, finishing with 4/5 and making a strong rating jump from 1679 to 1714, a gain of +35 points.
Minnesota
Rihaan competed in the Roger Hale Celebration in Edina, MN on August 24, scoring an excellent 4/5 and earning a big rating gain of +116 points, moving from 764 to 880. This was one of the standout rating jumps of the week!
